Let me help you get answers.
Many children, adolescents, and adults are experiencing the world in a different way than neurotypicals, and the question "Is it autism?" often comes up.
I offer answers through a comprehensive autism evaluation.
Is it a true speech and language disorder?
I have 10+ years of experience helping schools and bilingual families answer this question through a comprehensive evidence-based bilingual evaluation approach.
My goal is to help reduce the over and under-identification of children with a diverse cultural-linguistic background.
Regardless of the language, I can help tease out whether speech, language, or academic concerns are related to a true impairment, bilingualism, or other etiology.
As someone who grew up in a bilingual home and speaks three languages (English, Farsi, and Spanish), I recognize and appreciate the importance of supporting families with a unique cultural-linguistic background. My career in speech pathology has been rooted in bilingualism since the beginning.
I earned a Master of Science in Communication Disorders with an emphasis in bilingualism at Arizona State University and went on to complete my clinical fellowship year at Bilinguistics in Austin, Texas. I have dedicated over 10 years of my professional career to working with the multilingual pediatric population in both outpatient and school settings to help reduce bias in the assessment process, develop appropriate therapy plans for diverse populations, and educate families and other professionals on bilingualism. My commitment lies in ensuring that every child, regardless of their linguistic or developmental background, receives comprehensive and individualized care to unlock their full communicative potential.
Although I am passionate about bilingualism, I enjoy working with and supporting the autistic community by helping my clients obtain a diagnosis and learn how to self-advocate in the school system. I also enjoy helping clients with challenging speech sound disorders to improve intelligibility at a faster pace through proven therapy techniques.
